Shoulder Stretches
These stretches should be used in consultation with your osteopath. Hold each position for approximately 12 to 15 seconds.
Begin the shoulder stretching routine by stretching the shoulder all the way around in a giant circle in a windmill like fashion.
In the triceps stretch you raise the flexed elbow up high and use the other hand to pull the elbow across your back.
For the anterior shoulder and pectoral stretch, rotate the thumb out and back and stretch the whole arm backwards.
For the posterior shoulder stretch - pull the arm horizontally across your front.
For the deltoid stretch, pull the arm horizontally across your back.
And lastly for the internal rotation stretch, tuck the hand into the small of your back and take the elbow as far forward as possible. It is possible to use an assistant or a door frame to assist pushing the elbow forwards.
